Pasadena, CA - Temporarily remote but must be willing to return to office when necessary. LCAT - Sofware Systems Engineer (Mid Level) Responsibilities Looking for a Systems Engineer to work on the Mars 2020 Project for our JPL customer. The selected individual will support the team as the Release Manager with testing the software before delivery. An ideal candidate witless be a person with past experience in operations and test who will be the bridge between development team and operations team. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated technical individual to bridge the gap between the Instrument Data System Operations (IDSO) and Instrument Data System Development (IDS) teams, ensuring that software deliveries, testing, and deployments are addressed in accordance with project priorities. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
o Interfacing with IDSO and IDS to oversee and identify approach to address issues. o Actively participate in investigation and definition of design solutions. o Participate in IDSO operations and test activities and provide detailed documentation of failure modes back to the IDS team. o Define schedule for implementation and deployment of corrective actions. o Provide operational workarounds as needed. o Maintain cognizance of IDS System architecture and serve as the primary interface between project and developers for IDS applications (e.g. CWS, Marsviewer, DataDrive, PLACES, VICAR, APPS, CRISP, SILO, CRUST, CAMP, ROLO, etc.). o Identifying and facilitating prioritization of issues impacting Mars 2020 Tactical and Strategic Operations. o Solicit and define automated testing requirements from developers and stakeholders. Automated testing to including unit, functional, performance, and regression testing. o Interface with GDSO Team for mission wide outages, planned upgrades, and deployment integration across venues. o Responsibility for smoke testing of new releases across all venues and represent IDSO Team at project software delivery meetings. o Interfacing with IO Systems Team to assess impacts of FSW/ECR changes, scope changes to IDS software required, obtain test data, and ensure ops readiness. o Maintain IDSO tools repo, define best practices, and anticipate external changes and proactively address solutions (e.g. 3rd party software updates, OS updates). o Attend team meetings for both IDSO and IDS, reporting to both IO-IDSO Team Lead and GDS-IDS Development Lead. Experience:
Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 - 7 years of related professional experience This position requires a U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization. Qualifications o Working knowledge and professional experience with Python o Working knowledge and professional experience Jenkins o Working knowledge and professional experience with JIRA o Professional experience with shell scripting o Ability to work as part of a larger team o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
Minimum Qualification
Software Development, Technology ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
