Job Description:
Do you get bored sitting at a desk all day? Do you prefer working with people? We will train you for something new and fun! On the job, paid training is provided! Award-winning Optometry Office in Pasadena has a great opportunity for candidates to work face-to-face with patients, as a Patient Accounts Representative.
As a key member of the Insurance Department, you will meet face-to-face with each patient at the end of their visit.
You will explain their insurance benefits, their co-pay, today's itemized charges, and their balance due, by creating a digital fee slip.
You will answer any questions the patient has about their account.
When necessary, you will page the doctor or other medical professionals in the office, to confirm any disputed items on the fee slip.
During slow periods, you will bill various insurance companies.
Successful Candidates will be detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and highly motivated, with proven customer service skills, a strong commitment to excellence, and a desire to advance based on performance.
Our in-house, paid training program will build on your existing insurance billing skills.
You will learn:
How to use an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system to create and update patient records.
How to Verify insurance benefits for each patient, using online Insurance Systems.
How to Audit each patient's daily charges for accuracy, using your knowledge of their insurance plan.
The Basics of optical lens design and vocabulary.
The Basics of vision care and related terminology.
How to quote accurate fees to patients for eye exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses and treatment.
How to safeguard patient information using HIPAA guidelines.
Your primary responsibilties include, but are not limited to:
Meet face-to-face with each patient at the end of their visit.
Verify the accuracy of the patient's charges for eye exam, eyeglasses, contact lenses, and treatment.
Provide fee schedules and insurance information to patients by telephone.
Comply with HIPAA regulations.
Perform daily front/back office tasks as needed.
Education and
Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-One year minimum experience in Insurance Billing, OR a certificate/diploma in Medical Insurance Billing.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Team player.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Highly motivated and organized.
Empathetic with patients' needs and concerns.
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Computer literate.
Detail oriented.
Treat patients and co-worker's with respect.
Must be able to work on your feet for several hours each day.
